چکیده مقاله
This study explored in a first-person narrative format the lived experiences of the author, a TEFL university assistant professor, following the breakout of COIVD-19 pandemic. The investigation weaved two strands of experience together: a personal narrative of the author's journey through the crisis, and a parallel account of the resultant ethos and of his peers living the same unprecedented event. The research aimed at shedding some fresh light on how the event played out in the lives of those influenced by it, that is educators in general and university teachers in particular, and on the far-reaching consequences it could bring them as well as the implications for how educational bureaucrats should set about making policies for the purpose of alleviating some of the tensions along the way and in the way of those educators. Data were collected through reflective personal narratives and the pertinent official policy documents. It was found that, despite the initially experienced feelings of fear and shock that the incident evoked on a large scale at the academe, some teachers came to consider it a golden opportunity for personal self-knowledge and further professional development along the way.
