Machine learning brought advantages and disadvantages to the educational environment. Although it had great contribution in educational environment and revived the early ideas of individualizing instruction, adaptation in educational environment felt necessary. Adaptive Programmed Instruction curses using sophisticated tracking of skill development, instant feedback, and help levels based on mastery of concepts by providing game like interface. To prove the applicability of adaptive programmed instruction in conversation formative assessment, in a quality research 50 upper-intermediate students participated in a review by human interviewer and a man-made adaptive system. A questionnaire was also used to test the motivation level of the participants. The result proved the differences in the motivation, difficulty level of lexicon and structures used in the two cases, though the learners’ content of the answers didn’t show significant difference. The results also showed that the adaptive programmed instruction can be a suitable replacement for assessing conversation in comparison with the human assessment. |
