This research explores teachers opinions on the effect of the use of visual aids (e.g., pictures, animation videos, audios, media, and films), as motivational tools, on enhancing learners’ attention while reading English literary texts. In this line, an open ended questionnaire on teachers’ attitudes towards the effect of using audio-visual aids was designed by the researchers , and the data needed for the study was obtained by administering the questionnaire to a total number of 8 virtual EFL teachers in Iran, teaching reading literary texts at universitty level. Qualitative analysis of the teachers’ answers to the items of the open-ended questionnaire indicated that audio-visual aids help teachers focus and enhance learners’ attention on the reading text which, in turn, increases ultimate reading comprehension ability of the learners. The findings have implications for curriculum planners, educators, and English teachers who are involved in teaching virtual classes in one way or another. |
