. Efficacy of PowerPoint Presentations: Students' Perception Keramat Ala Kamaei Assistant Professor, Science Department, Farhangian University, Ahvaz, Iran Abstract The ubiquity of PowerPoint presentations nowadays has been under consideration in the worldwide realm of education in general; however, it is without thorough investigation into the educational of Farhangian University, specifically. The existing study examined student attitudes towards PowerPoint presentations in the English lectures in the context of second language learning classroom and Mathematic classroom. A survey conducted on the student attitudes includes classroom observations and a detailed questionnaire for one class of English proficiency course and one class of Algebra The results showed that students in English classroom preferred PowerPoint presentations over traditional methods of lecture delivery and had positive attitude towards PowerPoint presentations and lecturers as PowerPoint presenters, while in Algebra classroom students preferred using whiteboard and marker by presenter over PowerPoint presentations. Altogether, these results did not achieve remarkable consistency with preceding researches in the academic settings of the US, UK and Australia, providing the consistency study with a crucial step towards understanding the efficacy of PowerPoint presentations in university lectures.
