چکیده مقاله |
The main purpose of the study is to evaluate the impact of IRF (Initiation/ Response/ Follow-up) versus IRE (Initiation/ Response/ Evaluate) on the Speaking Ability of intermediate EFL Learners. For this purpose two pre-intermediate level classes were selected at Tehran Institutes over a 4-week period. Therefore an OPT test was administered to the students, and then a total of students were homogeneously selected and divided randomly into two groups of 15 and 22. In order to evaluate the student’s oral proficiency, IELTS test was administered to both groups as a pre-test. Randomly, two sessions of two groups were recorded. In the class that consists of 22 students (class A), IRE was implied (teacher initiation, student response, and teacher evaluation) in another that consists of 15 students (class B); a series of IRF sequences Initiation-Response-Follow-up transpired as the class went through each items. The 1-hr classes have been transcribed and analyzed line-by-line in its entirety using a modified version of the system developed by Gail Jefferson. Finally, a Post-test of oral proficiency was administered to two groups. This test constructed by researchers and its validity and reliability determined. The results of this study were computed and analyzed through SPSS 22. The analysis data indicates that there is not a significant different between two groups. |
