چکیده مقاله
This study aimed at finding the correlation among advanced EFL students' Communication Strategies (CS), Anxiety, and Ambiguity Tolerance (AT). To this end, 120 advanced learners in 8 classes (4 female and 4 male classes including at least 15 students in each class) were selected at Iran Language Institute (ILI) in Urmia, West Azarbayjan. All the students completed three questionnaires in 3 sessions. Before the main study, all the questionnaires were piloted to check their reliability. During the study, students were supposed to answer Horwitz’s Anxiety Questionnaire, Second Language Tolerance of Ambiguity Scale Questionnaire and Dörnyei and Scott’s (1997) Inventory of Strategic Language Devices. Having collected the data, the researchers analyzed them using Pearson Product correlation coefficient. The results indicated a positive correlation between AT and CS; however, an inverse relationship between Anxiety and CS and between Anxiety and AT. The implications are discussed for EFL teachers and learners in educational contexts.
